To Baltimore and Back

  • Oct. 13th, 2006 at 12:45 PM
It's going to be a very long Friday. I'm leaving the office early today, meeting J at home, then we're driving to Baltimore so she can register for tomorrow's Baltimore Half Marathon and attend the runner's expo. After that, we're meeting her friend JK in Columbia, MD for dinner. J will want some pre-race pasta, then we'll head home so she can hopefully get a decent night's sleep before the race tomorrow morning.
Saturday morning, J has to drive all the way back to Baltimore, run the 13.1 mile race, then drive home. JK and I were originally going to accompany her to the actual race, but the parking/timing/meeting logistics didn't work out at all, and I'm still sick, so we're showing our support at the expo and dinner tonight instead. In retrospect, this race has turned out to be a bit of a fiasco for us - we should have originally booked a hotel room in Baltimore, but it's too late now. J now has my cold, which is not helping things either. If I were her, I'd bag on the Baltimore Half Marathon and sign up for another race at a different time and place, but she's determined to do it. I just don't have the mindset of a serious runner, I guess.
The cat threw up again yesterday. :(
